Aasif Mandvi is most known for his funny segments on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, but this versatile comedian has also worked on various movies and plays. In his first leading role, Aasif Mandvi will be seen in the upcoming film Today’s Special which is slated for release on November 19.
Today’s Special is a feel good movie which follows the growth of Aasif’s character Samir. Samir is a highly trained chef who leads a quiet life. In an unfortunate twist of events, Samir is forced to help out his family by taking over the family business, a local Indian restaurant in Queens, New York.
Despite his culinary experience and his South Asian roots, Samir is clueless when it comes to preparing the perfect curry, but as he begins his transformation into the perfect Desi chef, he makes lifelong friends and grows as a person.
